From being REJECTED on National TV to creating a Multi-million dollar beauty company. The Lip Bar has not only shown me what it takes to be resilient, but it has also stood up to its brand name!

I was gifted 4 lippies from The Lip Bar, and although I have tons of lipsticks in my makeup kit, I just had to get my hands on their lippies to see what they hype was all about.

First Reaction:

I was sent 4 colors: Everything, Merlot, Chocolate Spritzer, and Brick House. The lipstick cases are super cute and different. It almost gave me a sense of Halloween due to the web-like aesthetic design.

Everything

Review: The 'Everything' lipstick is actually everything!! It's smooth rich gold color covered my lips and had me feeling like I was in the disco era. One coat was all I needed to get the full effect of this lipstick-- without any primer underneath to bring out its opaque color. I've never been bold enough to rock a gold lip, but this makes me want to reconsider that.

Chocolate Spritzer

Review: This lippie is a smooth light brown chocolate color that is great for everyday brown girl wear. It's not too dark, but not "ashy" nude either. Sometimes brown lippies can look a bit crack-headish on certain brown skin tones, but this one looks amazing and fits me perfectly.

Merlot

Review: This deep raspberry toned lippie looks exactly like the name. This Merlot lipstick made my lips looks like fuller and rich with the perfect balance of dark red and deep brown tones. I love lippies that really allow me to go all out and feel bold with my makeup. Whenever I wear this lippie I add a touch of lighter pink or gold eye shadow in the middle to give me a semi-ombre that highlights my lips.

Brickhouse

Review: This super creamy mattifying lipstick comes in a tube with a lip applicator to apply (sort of like a lipgloss). It is super rich and pigmented with an amazing texture. It glides on the lips like butter and dries into a full coverage matte lipstick that's not drying at all. It's also deep red which is my fav lipstick color!

Overall I love this brand, and I now understand why it's called The Lip Bar. They truly have nailed the lipstick game and their affordable prices make this brand that much more amazing. You can find these lipsticks online, and at your local Target. Melissa Butler; the founder of The Lip Bar; went from being rejected on The Shark Tank tv show, to recently opening up her first store front in Detroit. She is now well on her way to building a multi-million dollar brand. Congratulations to this black girl sprinkling her magic all over the beauty industry.
